Perry County Town Hall Broadband Meeting


Parents shouldn’t have to sit outside a library hotspot for their kids to do their homework. Small businesses shouldn’t have to move to cities to thrive. The Perry County Think Tank on Poverty is hosting a Broadband Town Hall to address these exact concerns.

The Buckeye Trail – New Straitsville Section

The trail enters the New Straitsville Section from a high hill on SR 78 northeast of Burr Oak Lake. It exits the section from Boch Hollow State Nature Preserve onto SR 664 some 250 ft lower. But, along the way, it undulates over 12,000 ft. You will visit extensive lengths of footpath within Burr Oak State Park and the Wayne National Forest.

This trail is also a part of the North Country Trail.

The Buckeye Trail – Shawnee Section

The trail begins at the entrance to Davis Memorial State Nature Preserve, located near Peebles in Adams County, at an elevation of 738 ft. After meandering through this Preserve, the trail returns to roads that meander up Peach Mountain past the GE Jet Engine Test Station, visit Mineral Springs and Wamsley in the drainage of the Scioto Brush Creek. The trail makes a brief visit on footpath to property that is mostly within the BTA Ballinger Preserve. Back on roads, the trail enters Scioto County. There, it enters Shawnee State Forest where it leaves road and joins the Shawnee Backpack Trail that crosses not only Shawnee State Forest but also Shawnee State Park. In time, the trail joins the Shawnee Wilderness Trail to visit the only designated wilderness within Ohio.

This trail is also a part of the North Country Trail.

Stone Church Horseback Riding System
Located near Shawnee on County Road 38 in Perry County, the Stone Church Horse Camp and Trail is open for horseback riding and camping April 15th through December 15th.

Named for the ruins of an old stone church nearby, this facility provides a camp for equestrians and 21 miles of scenic riding. Ten sites are provided, each with a 45′ long by 15′ wide parking space. Two sites are fully accessible.

The site has a restroom facility and water for horses. Each site has a covered paddock, fire pit grill, and tent pad.

Campsites are available at a first come, first served basis. An additional day use parking area is available nearby.

Wildcat Hollow Trail: Long Loop is a 16.5 mile lightly trafficked loop trail located near Malta, Ohio that offers the chance to see wildlife and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
