What Is The Southern Perry Network?

SPN is a group of Community Stakeholders working to boost and support local businesses throughout southern Perry County.  The group formed in 2018 as part of the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) Power grant-funded initiative that aims to help communities organize themselves to aid their small businesses to better grow and thrive in a stronger economy.

SPN is one of seven communities across five counties that have been designated Entrepreneurial Communities by Rural Action as part of the ARC Power grant.   With Rural Action’s assistance, SPN has begun the process of interviewing local businesses to identify the benefits, opportunities and barriers to operating a business in southern Perry County.  The businesses surveyed also share the needs of their individual business that prevent growth.  SPN then helps to identify and contact resources that can assist and solve these challenges for the business owner.

The map shows the initial communities where surveys are being conducted.  Survey summaries indicate the business community needs increased awareness of their services and marketing and promotion of the products and services they offer…..both to local residents and to surrounding communities.
